Priscilla Cain, 80, owner of Cain Gallery

Priscilla Cain, 80, of Ganges, Mich., a longtime Oak Park resident and art gallery owner, died on March 8, 2009 after a lengthy illness.

Described as "a beautiful, loving and gifted woman," she was a professional pianist who entertained family and many friends over the years, who also enjoyed making things grow in her dream garden. For many years she owned and operated Cain Gallery, first on the Marion Street mall, then on Oak Park Avenue. Any remembrances may be made in her name and directed to the 19th Century Club of Oak Park.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John; her children, Chris (Betsy), Julie (Tom) Herrick, Ceci (Laura Fernelius), and Mary; her sister, Gigi (Ron) Wietecha; and her grandchildren David, Johnathon, Elizabeth, Monica, and Katherine.

Arrangements were handled by Chappell Funeral Home in Fennville, Mich. An online registry book is available at www.chappellfuneralhome.com.

Dawn Tideman, 67, Oak Park librarian

Helen Dawn Tideman (nee Tyksinski), 67, died on Mar. 10, 2009, after a short illness. Born to William Tyksinski and Helen Gembala on Oct. 5, 1941, she was the youngest of four children. Raised in Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood, she graduated from Carl Schurz High School on the city's Northwest Side. She worked as a librarian at the Dole Branch of the OPPL and as an employee in the Oak Park and River Forest High School bookstore.

A more than 30-year resident of Oak Park, Ms. Tideman took on many community roles, including serving as co-president of the OPRF PTO and administrative member of the non-profit Amity School Children's Aid. She also served as a longtime election judge for Cook County and received a recognition of service from the Cook County Clerk's Office in 2008. She enjoyed bowling, the arts, literature, and spending time with friends and family.

Dawn Tideman is survived by three children, Kevin, Brian, and Megan; two brothers, Terry and Ralph; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Bill.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 28, at Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Church, 875 Lake St., in Oak Park. A reception with light snacks will follow in the adjoining Unity House.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amity School Children's Aid, P.O. Box 5603, River Forest 60305.

Thomas Liska, 55, President, Riverside Golf Club

Thomas Liska, 55, a longtime resident of River Forest, died on March 9, 2009 at Loyola University Medical Center. A 1972 graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School, he also attended Triton College in River Grove.

Even before he graduated from high school, Mr. Liska started buying real estate in Florida with the help of his father, a real estate agent. He later sold the parcels for a significant profit. He also co-owned Time Out, a bar in Berwyn, and a chain of hardware stores in Florida. For the past 20 years, he was the head of Liska Management Group, trading stocks out of his house.

In 2007, he became president of the Riverside Golf Club, where he was a highly visible and popular presence.

Thomas Liska is survived by his mother, Patricia; his brothers, Paul, Mike and Pat; and his sister, Mary Phelps.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on March 14 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in River Forest.
