As for District 200's search for director of human resources, that had its twists and turns before yielding Lauren Smith, who was hired Feb. 25 at a one-year salary of $140,000.
Smith, who has a 20-year career in the human resources field, was chosen after the school's first choice, Cheryl Champoux, removed herself from consideration.
Since 2004, Smith was chief human resources officer for a consolidated school district in Algonquin. She was also a human resources manager in McHenry's special education district.
OPRF was also considering reorganizing its human resources department and possibly hiring another staff person. Weninger, though, said the Board of Education has postponed any reorganization discussions until the next superintendent is hired.
